We've created this site to keep our friends and family updated. We appreciate your prayers, support, and words of hope and encouragement.
The day before Thanksgiving, Kathie was called in to review pathology reports from a surgery the week prior. (The surgery was to remove a fast growing fibroid.) Sadly, we learned that the fibroid was a tumor of a rare form of cancer called Uterine Leiomyosarcoma. This type of cancer is aggressive and tends to have a high rate of recurrence.
We are rejoicing that Kathie is only in an early stage after CT scans show no metastatic spread. We do know she is going to need a second surgery right after Christmas and then will have to decide/discuss about adjuvant treatments (chemo).
We go for a 2nd opinion at MD Anderson next week.
Everyday we are thankful for the amazing family and community we have supporting us. Thank you for being part of our lives.
