HEADLINE: KATE & DANA QUALIFY FOR THE NATIONAL CANCER RODEO FINALS (NCRF)

Kate qualified by being diagnosed with an extremely rare form of cancer in her bladder called Urothelial Nested Variant Carcinoma in early October 2015. The tumor was so rare it was not recognized by the pathologist and it had to be send off the Johns Hopkins for identification. Only about 200 cases have been reported in the medical journals worldwide. She will be having a cystectomy at Memorial Sloan Kettering (MSK) on January 20. She has drawn the ornery "Nessy" in the semi-finals and expects to be riding "Bout Nu" in the finals.

In the meantime, in early December, as they returned from MSK, Dana received word he was diagnosed with Stage IV Pancreatic Cancer that had metastasized to his liver. It looks like he will be coming out of shoot #3 on "Widow-Maker" in the semis. Since learning of the news he has qualified for a stage I clinical trial at Baylor Hospital in Dallas in partnership TGen in Phoenix, AZ. He will begin taking chemo treatments at Baylor starting on January 5 and looks to draw "Home Free" a rare ride for his mount in the finals.

Like George, they will be "looking for 8 when they blow the gate, and hope the 'Big Judge' ain't blind; they send their love and please know you are on their mind'"

Welcome to Kate and Dana's Caring Bridge site, They will do their best to keep it updated timely. The way some things have gone the first few weeks this journal may best be referred to as "Cancer Comedy Central".
