A typical Sunday. Go to church, then pick our hiking trail. On April 24, 2016 we chose a 3.5 mile hike at Brown County State Park- we decided to go a little lighter since Kat said she was a little tired and feeling a bit under the weather. After 2 miles she is breathing heavy and feeling extremely fatigued. The last mile was tough. I insisted on going to the doctor on Monday. Blood test shows elevated white cells, low platelets and red blood cells. Bone marrow biopsy on Wednesday April 27, diagnosed on Friday with leukemia.
The next Monday, 8 days later, here we are in the IU Health Simon Cancer Center ready to begin chemotherapy for Acute Undifferentiated Leukemia (similar to AML- Acute Myeloid Leukemia).
Chemotherapy began May 3, 2016. Kat is very very upbeat and positive- ready to move forward and beat this.
What a life-changer. Healthy one minute, battling leukemia the next. This proves what we have been saying- appreciate every minute of every day.
Prayers, pictures, words of inspiration, funny stories- anything to keep this beautiful woman positive to win this battle. Kat is honestly the most positive, upbeat individual I have ever known. She is always giving to others and bringing a smile to everyone around her.
Kat is my angel- and we will beat this. Dan
