Hello! Welcome to our page devoted to  Karla Kicking Cancer and keeping all of you update on this adventure!! 


On December 8th Karla was diagnosed with squamous cell carcinoma, cancer of the tongue. The cancer had already metastasized and attacked 6 lymph nodes on the left side of her neck.  Surgery in attempt to remove the cancer was on December 18th with the incredible Dr. Cordero. He was absolutely wonderful, comforting, and very faithful in the whole process. He prayed over her before surgery and reassured her that he was simply God's instrument. Surgery went well and Dr. Cordero removed all 6 lymph nodes but was only able to get part of the tumor on her tongue as well as had to take out one tonsil (which seemed to be the most painful part of the surgery).  


After 8 weeks of healing and recovery, she is now beginning 7 weeks of Radiation and Chemotherapy which starts on February 13th! 
With the radiation being concentrated on her tongue/ throat/ neck region , its been said to be one of the tougher treatments harshly affecting  swallowing, eating, and even speech. 


This  for sure is never a journey that anyone looks forward to and we never expected.  With that being said, I can assure you that this whole process would not be bearable, to say the least, without each and every one of you. Karla has been in high spirits about the whole process, which most people would absolutely be devastated to be in.  She has chosen taken the high-road and "Kick Cancer's Ass!". Her favorite saying at the moment is "I can and I will", which simply proves how strong she is!


The main thing she needs right now is to be lifted up in Prayer, and surrounded with encouragement, love, and support through these next 7 weeks!!
