Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. Kari was diagnosed with stage 3B metastatic breast cancer in April 2022 after finding a lump during a self-examination. A biopsy was done and showed it had spread to her lymph nodes so an MRI, several CTs and bone scans were done to identify if the cancer had spread further. Those results came back negative (praise God) so consultations with oncologists began to set out the plan. May 27, 2022 she successfully had a double mastectomy, started reconstruction and a port placed for chemotherapy. She has completed four rounds of Adriamycin & Cytoxan (aka A/C or red devil) and 12 treatments of Taxol chemotherapy and 25 treatments of radiation. Early 2023 she began the maintenance journey with hormone therapies: Arimidex and Verzenio will be taken for 2 and 10 years. June 20, Kari will  have the phase II reconstruction surgery. There is a long road ahead of her and her family but together we know prayers, love and support will bring us through this. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.
