Hello Village,

As some of you already know, our sweet friend Karin Guild has an interesting summer ahead of her. Recently she found out that she has stage 1 breast cancer. The good news is that her doctors have high hopes of getting rid of it rather quickly. Having had a history of worries with other abnormalities in her breasts, they have decided to do a double mastectomy to avoid further problems. I know this was a big decision for Karin, but it is a good one. (I happen to think that new and improved would be something I might welcome!) Karin’s surgeons hope to remove all the cancer and have no need for radiation or chemo unless they find the cancer has made its way to her lymph nodes. They are very optimistic that it has not spread due to such early diagnosis.

Karin's surgery is scheduled for Tuesday, June 27th and she will stay at John Muir for 1-2 nights. Karin's mother will be staying with hr for the first two weeks after her surgery, but her recovery will be longer than that. For now, I am sure Grant would love to have a few outings/play dates and we should all get our vegetarian cookbooks ready. As for me, I am going to get a good list of restaurants with the Guilds favorite vegetarian dishes. I will pass that along soon!

I know we will all be sending our healing wishes her way! We are a very strong force when we all work together!

See you all soon!

~Kim

PS. As always, I am sure that I have missed someone on this email chain. Please feel free to pass this along and let me know who I should add for future updates.
