Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.

On October 13, 2016 I was diagnosed with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis, (ALS), also known as Lou Gehrig's disease or Motor Neuron Disease.  While I started noticing symptoms over the summer, it was only after several visits to multiple doctors and a bevy of tests that we finally reached a diagnosis.   Essentially my muscles are deteriorating.  George and I are starting a new journey to learn about this disease; for me, how to live with increasing disability, and for him, how to care for me through this process.  We will post updates here for our family and friends.    Your love and support are very much appreciated.  While working with this disease will exhaust us physically and emotionally, we hope to endure with love and grace and not let this disease affect our spirits.  Please pray with us, cry with us and laugh with us.  Your love and friendship mean the most to us during this difficult time.  We have faith that God will be there to lead us through this journey

Karen's journey ended on August 27, 2018 but her story continues on.  She touched many people as she shared her thoughts, recipes, music, wishes, memories, and pains. I will continue to post occasional updates, sharing my grieving and healing process as I learn to adjust and continue life on my own - with God's guidance - George
