Mom’s journey started on October 17th, 2020 the morning after her 70th birthday! She was doing her routine self check in the shower and noticed a lump that she has never felt! Ladies this is a reminder now to make this a daily routine.
I will never forget that look in her eyes when she came to share with me and said with tears and fear in her eyes, “Jenny I think I feel a lump in my breast.” I knew in that second just how scary that moment was to her and any woman. I looked her in the eyes, hugged her and said we will take this one day at a time and just how glad I was she felt it. We took each Doctor appointment day by day and things moved very quickly. Once we heard the diagnosis of breast cancer we focused instantly on how to beat it!
Mom is on a 5 month Chemo plan to treat Triple Negative stage 2B Breast Cancer that has also been found in a lymph node in her arm pit area. The chemo is divided up in 2 stages: 2 meds x every 2 weeks for 2 months and 1 med x 1 a week for 3 months.
She is AMAZING so far and I am so overwhelmed by the love and support we have been shown by family and friends near and far. We know there are so many breast cancer survivors, have learned so much from their stories and are planning to share Mom’s survival story here!
