Thanks for stopping by in support of Karen. I’m her friend, Maren, in Seattle, and she has asked me to keep you informed and updated as she goes through her upcoming surgery and recovery. Karen and I chatted about all the different ways to do this, and decided using this site is the easiest and fastest to keep you up to date.

Here’s how it all unfolded . . . Mid November, just after getting back from Arizona, Karen started having upper abdominal pain. She went in to be checked, and over time and through a series of tests, her doctors discovered there was an a-typical haziness on her pancreas. With further examination, it was determined that surgery was necessary. It’s a serious surgery with a long recovery, but she is fortunate to be in the best hands with Dr Sheppard and his team at OHSU. Surgery is scheduled for Friday, Feb 8.
