Karen Arrell

Welcome!
Our Mom (Karen Arrell) was diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor on March 10, 2016. The tumor was removed three days after her diagnoses at Methodist Hospital. The surgeon was pleased that the tumor was well defined and encapsulated, with no entanglement with the brain. Her recovery from surgery has been excellent. She is gaining back her strength everyday, and her cognitive abilities are as sharp as ever! Her strength is truly inspiring.
The type of cancer is still not completely certain. University of Minnesota first determined it to be: (very rare) Anaplastic Fibrous Tumor. Mayo Clinic's diagnoses: Gliosarcoma (GSM). Treatment for the tumor will begin on May 3, 2016. She will have radiation 5 times per week at Methodist Hospital along with oral chemo treatment for 6 weeks.
Our hope is to keep everyone updated on our mom's recovery and any support that maybe needed. We so appreciate your love and caring!
