In the spring of 2016 I was diagnosed with breast cancer on my right side. Stage 0. Due to the location of the cancer throughout the breast, I had a mastectomy and a few lymph nodes were taken. The results of the biopsy showed cancer in the lymph. Stage 2b. Like so many others before me I did what I should do: took all my meds, attending all the appointments, I tried being a vegan (couldn't do it), and participated in the Team Phoenix triathlon program (amazing). I have joked that since 2014 even numbered years have not been kind to me - SVT (rapid heart beat), Breast Cancer, Heart Failure, and now in 2020 Stage 4 breast cancer that has spread to my bones. I was just days away from getting out of 2020 when the news came. I was just months away from the fifth anniversary of my diagnosis, a major milestone for cancer survivors. I will be using this page to keep people informed of my Metastatic Breast Cancer Journey. If you want to read about my thoughts on race and theology check out www.pissedoffpastor.org. I already know that I'm surrounded by an incredible village of family and friends. Thanks in advance for all your love and support.
