Hi Friends and Family,
As all of you know I was recently diagnosed with stage 2A breast cancer. It has been a whirlwind few weeks, but we are all doing well and ready for a fight. We received some good news earlier this week that both the CT scan and the bone scan were negative. This means the cancer is localized to the breast and a few lymph nodes.
My treatment plan, as of right now, is to start chemo on Monday (Nov 18th - Camila's Birthday). Chemo will be every two weeks for the next 16 weeks. My therapy will consist of a three-drug regimen, two drugs for 8 weeks and then another drug for the following 8 weeks. This approach should help shrink the cancer that has already developed prior to surgically removing it and help my oncologist determine how best to treat any remaining at-risk areas after surgery. When I finish treatment at the end of February, I will have three weeks to rest and recuperate followed by a double mastectomy and reconstruction. I am anticipating a lengthy recovering period following the surgery, perhaps a full month. I am hoping to avoid radiation but that is something that will be decided later on.
I will try and keep you all posted via this site, but also feel free to email, text or call me or Adam. We love hearing from you all!
