JW Robertson

On February 8, 2018 JW was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia.  The back story:  he went for his regularly scheduled annual appointment with his PCP on December 11, 2017.   On December 21st he received a call from his PCP that the CBC done on that annual visit had abnormal levels and JW needed to see an Oncologist Hematologist.  That appointment occurred on January 4th.  Another CBC revealed continued low levels of red cells, white cells, platelets as well as B12 and folate.  We left that appointments with prescriptions for daily B12 injections and folate pills.  We left a few days later for our winter vacation which included a Caribbean cruise and stays on Sanibel Island and Siesta Key in Florida.  JW felt great!  We returned to Oklahoma the afternoon of January 29th and were back at the oncologist’s on the 30th where another CBC said levels were still low.  A bone marrow biopsy was done in February 6th.  At 8:30 on the 8th JW was told he had Acute Myeloid Leukemia and to go home, pack a bag and come back to Mercy hospital.  He was to plan on a 30 day stay!
