JoEllen Whitehall, 72, of Martinsburg WV (formerly of Portland OR) passed away on January 22 2019.
JoEllen was a Mother, a Grandmother, a Sister and a dear friend. She leaves behind a daughter, Bethany Nagy, a Son-In-Law, Matt Nagy, her four precious grandchildren, Ashlee, Caleb, Andrew, and Brianna Nagy, and her Sister, Nancy Marino.
The light of my Moms life was most certainly her grandbabies. She moved to WV almost 4 years ago, to be near them, and the rest of our family. Since they were born, not a day went by that she wasn't either with them, or watching their lives unfold in photos shared on social media. They were, and still are, her pride and joy. Her most favorite thing.
In her spare time, Mom loved to garden, read, and get lost in the genealogy of our family, which she researched extensively. Through the genealogy, she was able to connect with distant relatives. That always made her happy.
Mom was a retired Speech Pathologist. She worked in Elementary Education. She also leaves behind many friends and colleagues from her days there.
Lastly, Mom loved animals. She doted on her dog Riley, and spoiled her grand dogs, Lucy and Dexter. She loved to message me funny or cute videos of all kinds of animals. Her favorite was always baby goats in sweaters. We promised her that when we moved to our new home with more land this year, that we would get her some goats. We still will.
With Moms love of animals in mind, we've chosen a local animal shelter to be the recipient of her Memorial fund. We ask that in lieu of flowers, you kindly donate to this charity, in her name. All donations go directly to the Humane Society of Morgan County. You can follow the GoFundMe link below, or click on "ways to help" on this page. https://www.gofundme.com/6svtio8
We will love and miss Mom always, but we are comforted in knowing she is reunited now with her first child, David, and her parents Glen and Arlene. We also know that her spirit will always be with us.
