On Friday July 13th at 4:27 am I received a phone call that no mother should ever hear.  This is the State Patrol are you the mother of Justin Taylor?  It took us awhile to locate you.  Your son has been involved in a motor vehicle crash and was air lifted to HCMC, do you have someone to bring you to the hospital?  My sister took me right away Love you Sis you are always there for me.

PLEASE PRAY!!!  He is fighting for his life!  We have been told that his car flipped upon impact with another vehicle and he was ejected and part of the car may have landed on him.

The major concern at this point is the damage sustained to his lungs.  He is on a ventilator and his inhaled air with the respirator is working well.  He is having a difficult time exhaling the carbon dioxide out even with the machine.  They are medicating and working on getting him so the machine is not so labor intensive on his lungs.  They have him sedated in a medical coma as well as medicated so he can not move any of his body not even a twitch.  All his energy needs to be focused on breathing right now.  They put two chest tubes in to help with the lungs this afternoon and when I left this evening his stats were moving in the right direction.

He has a head injury and a brain bleed.  They put in a shunt this afternoon to monitor pressure and the swelling in his brain.  We will not know of any damage for several weeks or more.  There are many broken bones in his face between the eye sockets and behind.  There is damage to his left eye and his left ear.  He sustained broken bones as well at the base of his skull behind the left ear.
He has 2 cracked vertebra in his lower neck area.  They are optimistic that it may not affect the spinal cord.  He was in surgery this morning when I arrived to view for internal injuries other than a laceration on his spleen all other organs looked ok.  They did repair on his left elbow and got him back to ICU.  They were going to go back in and repair his spleen this afternoon and did not.  They now hope and anticipate that it will repair itself with time.  His lungs were not stable enough to move him from the ICU for any further tests or the repair.

As you can see this is a lot for me and my family to deal with right now.  I know that you all want to help and I appreciate that.  I ask that you come to this site for updates and communications.  I can't repeat the same words over and over plus I'm still in shock myself.  I will let you know if I need anything.

NO VISITORS ARE ALLOWED AT THIS TIME.   ONLY FAMILY!

We have a very long road ahead of us, pray for his recovery.
