Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.

I have a small tumor in my right lung that is cancerous (adenocarcinoma).  I feel very fortunate that it was caught early.  This summer I was having some pain in my side, and after about a month, went to the doctor.  I had a CT scan which showed a suspicious spot on my lungs.  We never did figure out what the pain was from, but I began to see a pulmonary specialist.  She ruled out many things, and the only thing left to do was to see if it was cancer.  I had a pet scan and a needle biopsy, which showed that it was cancerous.  I am part of the small percentage of nonsmokers who get lung cancer.

On Monday December 18 I will be having surgery to have the tumor and the tissue surrounding it removed.  It is unlikely that I will have to have chemo or radiation, but we will know for sure after the surgery.  I will be at Methodist Hospital for 3-4 days following the surgery.  Hopefully I will be home before Kim's birthday on Dec. 22!

The support and love from friends and family has been wonderful and we feel so blessed.
