Jullie McLean Smith is a 43 year old, newly married, high school teacher, originally from Griffin, Georgia, now living in Savannah. She teaches high school at Effingham County High School. She began running a fever on Wednesday, September 7, 2016 and was admitted to Memorial Hospital, Savannah, on Friday, September 9, 2016 with anemia, pneumonia and high fever. After extensive testing, she was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia. Treatment began today at 3:00 pm, September 14, 2016. She will have 7 days of intense chemotherapy and 4 weeks in the hospital. Next phase treatment plan will be implemented after this initial phase.
