Julie's current journey falls in the category of "no good deed goes unpunished." As you know, Julie took a semester of leave from her Associate Professor position at Wayne State University to be able to care for our Dad during the last months of his life.  As a result of her efforts, Dad was able to die at home, something he very much wanted to do. Unfortunately, Julie failed to take care of herself as she cared for Dad.  Julie's health deteriorated to the point that she had to attend Dad's  funeral in a wheel chair. Two days after the funeral, Julie was in the hospital. Many tests and images later, she was diagnosed as having a severe infection in her blood stream and hip bones. On April 20, 2016,  surgery was performed to remove pockets of infected fluid that were  impinging on her spinal cord. Do you think those pockets of fluid were causing her pain?  If you do not know the answer to that question, do a little research on the question of whether bears defecate in the woods.

I, Julie's good looking brother, live in Anchorage, but have created this site with the hope that I can use it to keep folks up to date regarding Julie's progress. Please everyone use this site to express to Julie your thoughts, prayers, hopes, and wishes.
