Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated on my condition and journey. I was diagnosed with a large pericardial cyst back in May 2018. This mass has plagued me with chest pain, shortness of breath, palpitations and extreme fatigue. The majority of these cysts are usually quite small and insignificant. This is not the case for me. Mine is almost 4 times the normal size, not congenital and causing compression on my right ventricle. I am preparing to undergo a Median Sternotomy (Open Heart Surgery) with Resection of the mass on Tues. September 11th, at the Cleveland Clinic Downtown. I will be spending my 50th birthday in Cardiac ICU, with the extent of my stay up to 7 days following surgery.
