Dear Family and Friends, Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We will be using it to keep you updated on Julian's progress.
In June Julian and I were enjoying our annual blissful month in Paris when he began experiencing symptoms of illness. He was subsequently diagnosed with multiple myeloma, which is cancer of the bone marrow. It is not curable, but is manageable. The disease attacked his spine, which led to excruciating pain. He's had surgery on his spine and has started chemo to combat the myeloma. Now he is in the Sarasota Memorial Hospital oncology unit with the aim of managing his pain and regaining enough strength to continue chemo. He will have physical and occupational therapy as well.
We are in an excellent place. Julian's team of docs includes top people from the Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa as well as the Sarasota Cancer Specialists. Our wonderful kids-- Kimi, Tory, and Matt -- are very much in the trenches with us, as are dear friends and neighbors who are close by. In addition, we are getting love, prayers and support from friends around the world, as they learn about Julian's illness. We feel blessed in spite of our travails.
