As many of you are aware, on July 11th Judy was diagnosed with an inoperable Stage 3 Anaplastic Astrocytoma brain tumor, with a strong possibility of it being a Glioblastoma tumor. Judy begins 6.5 weeks of outpatient radiation, with in-home chemo (oral meds) concurrently on August 10. Judy's sisters Lori Saltveit and Jenny Blizard are reviewing and staging for possible other treatments once this first phase of treatment is complete. The tumor has affected the left side of her body, so her strength, coordination and some cognitive skills are diminished. Lori and Jenny, along with long time friends Barrie Scheid and Tina Ferrigno are rotating visits with Judy to provide constant companionship and support. Judy's brothers-in-law Dave (Jenny), Ted (Lori), niece Maria and nephew Jax are also helping in many ways, not the least of which being moral support. Judy's work colleagues as well as local and distant friends have also been hugely instrumental in offering moral support, meals, visits, and upcoming rides to and from radiation and other appointments.
Though it has been challenging for all of us to actually internalize what is happening, Judy has a great attitude and is committed to the prescribed treatment. Thank you is an inadequate word for our collective appreciation of all the prayers and good vibes being sent Judy's way. Keep 'em coming!
