After months of dealing with a persistent cough and being treated for asthma, allergies, and infections with no relief, Judy Care was diagnosed with lung cancer on December 11, 2014. The diagnosis was of course a shock to the family, and even more so when a week later the PET scan results showed that the cancer had spread to her lymph nodes and spine and was stage 4.
A few weeks after Judy’s initial diagnosis, we found out that Judy's cancer was actually metastatic/stage 4 breast cancer -- NOT lung cancer! Judy doesn't currently have any tumors in the breast, but it is breast cancer that has metastasized to the lung and bones (possibly related to the breast cancer she had 18 years ago). While still difficult news, stage 4 breast cancer has a much better prognosis than stage 4 lung cancer.
The Care family appreciates all of your prayers, cards, e-mails, texts, phone calls, flowers, and the abundant support you have shown over the past couple years! Now that CarePages is no longer available, we are starting this CaringBridge site as a way to continue to keep everyone informed as Judy goes through treatment and to let you know how you can be praying.
