Jo began having back pain around Thanksgiving, and attributed it to standing a lot and slaving over a feast. It continued through Christmas and the New Year, and finally became so cumbersome that she went to the ER on January 15th. After a CT scan, a mass was found on her pancreas, and she was diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer. Thus began the process of tests and appointments to determine the extent of the cancer. When we met with the oncologist for the first time, he also discovered 2 nodules on her lungs that he was very concerned about. After a pancreas biopsy, PET scan, and the worrisome lung nodules, the oncologist is near certain that her cancer is at an advanced stage. He will not be able to confirm this until she has a lung biopsy.
