In November of 2017, Jo was diagnosed with stage 2, HER2-positive breast cancer. After several rounds of chemotherapy, she had a double mastectomy in late March. Although the surgery and recovery went well, she became increasingly concerned with lingering symptoms that had an effect on her fatigue, balance, and equilibrium.
Last week, Jo had an MRI that showed her breast cancer had metastasized to her brain, showing 2 tumors on her cerebellum (close to her brain stem). Surgery to remove the tumors was scheduled for September 7th.
