Welcome to our CaringBridge website, where we will be posting updates on Josh’s condition.

Josh was diagnosed with uveal melanoma (cancer of the eye) in July 2016. His tumor was treated with proton beam radiation at UC Davis and for about three and a half years we saw good regression of the tumor.

However, in December 2019 there was evidence of tumor regrowth in his eye. In an effort to protect his overall health, the eye was removed in January of 2020.

Unfortunately, in March 2020 an MRI revealed several metastases to the liver.

We are now starting our journey down a road we hoped we never would travel. Conventional cancer treatments are ineffective in metastatic uveal melanoma, so with the help of Dr. Kim in San Francisco, we are beginning to look at our options for clinical trials.

Please keep Josh in your prayers. We pray that we are soon guided toward the right treatment plan that will stabilize his condition and stop the cancer from spreading further.

Sincerely,

The Burke Family
