Joseph Eide Jr.

My name is Joseph Jr. and I was born on January 25, 2014 in Pierre, SD. My Daddy and Mommy are Joe and Elizabeth Eide and I have a big sister named Hayley. When I was six weeks old my skin started turning yellow. After lab work (ouch!) and other tests, I was diagnosed with Biliary Atresia. BA is an inflammation of the large bile ducts outside the liver that irreversibly blocks bile flow from the liver to the small intestine.  The cause of biliary atresia is unknown.  It is estimated that biliary atresia affects 1 in 10,000 to 15,000 babies worldwide.  It is the main cause of chronic cholestatic liver disease in children and a common reason for liver transplantation in children.

Because of the BA, I am going to need lots of medical treatments, surgery, and spend lots of time at hospitals far from home. My entire family is very grateful that you want to have a part in my journey that lies ahead.

On Wednesday,  March 27th, 2019, I was given the gift of life.  A perfect match liver was donated to me!

Please sign my guestbook. Your prayers and well wishes mean a lot to me and my family!
