Born in The Bronx, NY on October 20, 1951, Joseph (also known by his middle name 'Alfred') was the last of 11 children of Fitzroy and Louisa Smith. As a young child the family moved to Balitmore, MD where he was raised, trusted Christ as his Savior and met his bride, Junetta.  After a honeymoon to Florida in 1980, they decided to make Pinellas County their primary residence. In 2014, he retired from a 25 year career at St Petersburg College. Joseph is the father of 3 children: Aisha, Josiah and Jewel. His 2 granddaughters are Abena (10 yrs) and Lydia (11 mos). His siblings are Ashton, Nestor, Lenny, Sibil and Ivy.
