Welcome to Josie's Caring Bridge. We are using Caring Bridge to keep family and friends updated at one time.  We are not requesting donations thank you, but the website Caring Bridge accepts donations to keep website going. We appreciate your support and words of encouragement. You are welcome to add comments and post your memories and thoughts of Josie for all to read. We thank you for visiting.Josie was diagnosed with dementia some years ago and over these last few years we have witnessed our mom slowly leave us. At the time of diagnosis we  were told she would eventually not remember how to do simple daily tasks, and over these last few months it has become evident that she has forgotten how to eat. This is common in dementia. As a result, Josie is not taking in calories, losing significant weight, and her body is beginning to shut down.
Doctors have explained that if Josie continues to not take in calories her body will continue to shut down, and her time with us could be as short as a few weeks or months. We were also told that sometimes dementia patients can rebound and start taking in calories, which could then extend life to perhaps a year.
We wanted everyone to know, that sadly, our time on earth with our mother is deminishing, and we are sharing this process until we meet its conclusion.  We are greatly saddened, but are so thankful she was blessed to live a full life with a large number of close friends in addition to her family.
