Jordan Waid

 Hello Everyone, 
I’m creating this page for Tracy and Scott Waid to keep all family, friends, and well wishers updated  on Jordan Waid.  On March 14th, Jordan was in an accident where he fell approximately 60 feet from a cliff at Red Rock Canyon while hiking with his friends in Nevada. 
Jordan was airlifted to the hospital and is in critical condition. Tracy and Scott are with him. 
Jordan is sustaining multiple injuries and was put on life support. He is suffering from a broken back, legs, and has swelling and blood in the brain.  At this time we don’t know to what extent the brain injury is. He is in a non-medically induced coma.
On Sunday March 15th, he had surgery on his legs to stabilize them which he came through to quote his mom “Like a rockstar!”

On Monday March 16th, CT scan showed blood on the brain, the swelling wasn't responding to pain meds. He had some movement of the left arm and no movement on the right arm. There was no eye movement.  
Even though Jordan hasn’t opened his eyes yet he had his first movement on the right side on Monday afternoon! He moved his right wrist and wiggled his big toe on the left foot when being messed with by the nero team. No one likes their feet messed with in my opinion. 
On Monday evening, a fellow airman was in the room with Jordan, he sqeezed her hand and when they asked him to let go and sqeeze again ...HE DID!! ..proof he can hear us and move his left hand with voluntary movements! 
Overnight Monday night Jordan initiated breathing, crossed both arms, he still has not gained consciousness, and they are closely monitoring the brain bleeding and swelling.  
Tuesday March 16th, that afternoon they were applying pressure to certain points on Jordan to get reactions..when she pinched his right shoulder he moved his left arm to the shoulder. Way to go Jordan!! CT scans were still the same as the day before. 
Wednesday update Jordan is moving both eyeballs under his eye lids, they were going to reduce the forced fluid to reduce the puffiness and doing a breathing trial, lowering the number the machine is doing to see what he can /will do on his own. He continues to do well with responding to verbal cues...give thumbs up /wiggle toes ect.. 
Depending on how the swelling is in the brain will depend on whether Jordan will have surgery on Monday on his ankles which also sustain major injuries due to the fall. 
At this time there is not a set time when they will be able to do surgery on his back. He has a very slow and long recovery ahead of him. Even though he has not regained consciousness yet he his making slow and little (but huge in the grand scheme of things) strides. 
Due to the current pandemic situation they are only allowing parents in the hospital. Nobody is allowed in waiting room. 
So Jared and Logan are home.

Also, a huge thank you the Chicago police officer who was there hiking as well as the neo nurse who was also hiking there that they were able to get to him right away and helped save his life! If wasn’t for them he would not be with us right now!
