At our 20 week prenatal ultrasound, we were told our baby boy had a 90% chance of being stillborn within a month. He had "hydrops fetalis," a type of in-utero fluid retention that is usually fatal, in addition to several major heart defects which are linked to Down syndrome.
Two weeks and many prayers later, the hydrops had disappeared and Jordan arrived safely on 4-13-21. The doctors admit that it is very uncommon for hydrops to disappear and have referred to him as a "miracle baby."
Jordan is growing now, and by the time he is 4 to 6 months of age, he will need open heart surgery with a month of hospitalized recovery at Mayo Clinic in Rochester.
We are so thankful for each of you who read, help, pray, and care as we navigate this new and challenging territory. And we're thankful to our Savior, Jesus Christ, for His tender mercies that are new every morning.
