In Mid-November dad went in to the doctor for a sore ankle & mentioned that he felt like he had a hernia.  As the Doctor explored a little more they noticed a mass that was growing inside dad's abdomen.  The next step was a trip to Mayo in Rochester - he had a CT scan done that showed the tumor and it appeared to be around 5.5" in diameter and was starting to wrap around dad's only kidney.  All of this has been complicated by the fact that dad only has one Kidney.

After the biopsy he was diagnosed with Sarcoma Cancer - a very rare form of cancer that grows from soft tissue.  We are extremely fortunate that it wasn't Kidney Cancer.  The medical team at Mayo are doing all that they can to save his Kidney, because it is fully functioning as it is supposed to.

On December 28 - dad started his first round of Chemo to try and reduce the size of the tumor (and PRAYERFULLY have it pull away from the Kidney).   He has three consecutive days of chemo and then he will have around 19 days off, be fore he starts the process over again.

After these first two rounds of Chemo (approx. 42 days) - he will have another CT Scan to determine what impact the chemo has had on his tumor and then we will consider the possibility of surgery, or possibly just living with the Tumor.

THANK YOU to everyone that has kept dad in your prayers - he is a man of FAITH and has truly felt your prayers with him during this time.
