Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using this to keep family and friends updated in one place.

This past August, Jon was diagnosed with prostate cancer.  Before we go any further, it was caught early; his is treatable.  We are thankful for this good news and state with certainty that God is in control of Jon's health and our lives!  Jon has been having his PSA level checked regularly, as prostate cancer runs in his family.  In July, he was told his levels were high, and an MRI and biopsy were performed.  A tumor was found in his prostate, and, after a few doctor visits, lots of praying, and lots of reading, we decided that radical robotic prostatectomy is the best course of treatment.  What this means is that on October 25, Jon will have his prostate removed.  The doctors believe the cancer is confined to the prostate (this will be confirmed after surgery), so the thought is that the cancer will be removed with this surgery.  No cancer is curable, but the chances of any cells having escaped to other parts of his body are less than 2%.  His hospital stay will be short, but he will be off work through Nov 25 at this point.  The plan is then that he will be back to work full time, but no coaching this winter.  We have been told recovery can be lengthy and frustrating, so we will be coveting your prayers in the days and weeks to come.  We will update after surgery.
