On Monday, July 4th Jonathan was involved in a serious 3-wheeler ATV roll-over accident where he suffered significant brain injuries. When paramedics arrived on the scene Jonathan was unresponsive.  He was then airlifted to HCMC and remained unresponsive after emergency medical care.

In days to come, Jonathan was monitored closely by a phenomenal Neurology team at HCMC. The Neurology team were clear with family and friends that Jonathan sustained severe brain injury in many areas and that they would be doing tests and an MRI to get a closer picture of just how severe.

July 7th.  Jonathan's parents and family met with the Neurology team to view the imaging taken during his MRI and were able to ask the questions that they have so patiently been waiting to ask. The MRI shows great injury to Jonathan's brain that is categorized as irreparable and these types of injuries are severe enough that Jonathan's quality of life would be very minimal, pending he continues to breathe on his own when taken off respiratory support.

Because of this early prognosis, time would be given to Jonathan to show signs of responsiveness or reactivity.

July 12th. The family met again with the Neurological team to discuss latest test results.  New test results showed no improvement and Jonathan remains unresponsive.  The MN organ donation team starts to test Jonathan for any abnormalities or disease  and donor matches.

July 14th.  Jonathan still shows unresponsiveness and is still not breathing on his own.  Jonathan's parents receive the Doctor's final prognosis and are faced with  parents' worst nightmare...

 ***

On the day we  gathered to say our last goodbyes and to participate in a flag raising honoring event for Jonathan's gift of organ donation, we were told that his Neurological doctor had abruptly stopped all of his current prognosis and proceedings!!!  Just 2 hours earlier, the daily testing that they had been doing she finally got something she had not before this day. He had slightly opened one eye and reacted to a pain prick.

The priest that was present began to pray words of a new beginning and healing as we all placed one hand on Jonathan's body and joined in prayer.  As he spoke, unbelievingly,  we all started to feel nerve reactions/quick jolts of movement in his muscles and limbs!!! That room was filled with an absolute miracle taking place!!!

Thus begins this miracle man's healing journey...
