Jonah Hatch

Jonah was diagnosed with two cancers on January 20th, 2021, when he was 10 months old.  The diagnosis came after his family doctor discovered at a routine check-up that his head was growing too quickly.  The cause of the growth turned out to be a large brain tumor and the initial exam incidentally found a second tumor in his right eye.  The next week revealed that he had two unrelated cancers – Pilomyxoid Astrocytoma in his brain, and Retinoblastoma in his eye.  Though a genetic predisposition to cancer seems likely (how else do you get 2 cancers before your first birthday), we haven't been able to identify a link. As far as we know, there have been no other case reports of these two cancers occurring together.  Thanks so much for being with us on this journey.
