July 2017
Our journey began last week... after not feeling well for awhile and abdominal pain increasing steadily over the past few weeks,  John was talked into coming into the ER. That was on Wednesday July 5th. After many tests, it was determined that he needed his gall bladder out. He was taken into surgery late in the afternoon on Thursday, didn't get back to his room until after 10pm. The doctor had concerns about the liver, bile duct and  pancreas, so ordered a CT Scan for Friday morning to get a better look. After being put under three times in five days, and many tests and days of nothing to eat for him. He was diagnosed with malignant pancreatic cancer involving one lymph node, the bile duct,  also very likely  into the wall of the intestine. The plan is to start chemotherapy in the next few weeks with either 2 or 3 different meds being used for 4-6 months, at which time they will re-image and hope that by that time it will have shrunk the tumor enough to remove it surgically. He has been through so much recently and we are looking forward to getting him strong enough to go home and heal. Prayers appreciated as we travel this road, might be bumpy for awhile. Thanks :-) Deb
