Welcome to John’s CaringBridge website. We are using this safe and helpful website to keep family and friends updated in one place.

In mid February Dad had a pain so strong on his right side it took him to the Emergency Room. After multiple blood draws, tests, and liver and kidney biopsies over the last month, Dad has been diagnosed with Incurable Stage 4 Hepatocellular Carcinoma (HCC) Liver Cancer. It’s an aggressive cancer starting in the liver with metastasis to Right adrenal gland/kidney. He is not a candidate for resection (removing cancer from Liver with surgery) or Liver transplant. We have an amazing Oncologist that has started Dad on immunosuppressant therapy, not chemotherapy. The Oncologist said 5 years ago, he would send patients home with the same cancer Dad has without being able to do anything to help. Thank you to God and to Medical advances, this immunosuppressant therapy does two things: shrinks the cancer tumors and builds up John’s immunity. Dad had his first treatment Friday (3/25), and so far so good, minimal to no side effects. John will have 4 of these (1 every 3 weeks), at this time (12 weeks) he will have a PET scan. As long as the tumors are shrinking, he will continue to do this round of treatments over and over. There is an average life expectancy with this… We are Not going to set any limits for the miracles God has for Dad. He will live his full, best life in Jesus until the day God calls him home. John is a strong, wonderful, caring, and God-filled husband and father and the Patriarch of our family. The number one request we have is praying for John every day or every time you feel led to; prayers for endurance with treatments, joy in his life, and peace that surpasses understanding. Prayers for Barbara, her heart, mind, and spirit for strength and peace. Barbara and John are determined to enjoy every minute they have together with each other and their family. We all have a time we will be called to come home to heaven with God, so no time-frame stamp, number of months/years, etc. for this guy!! He’s the strongest man I know and in God’s hands.

I will keep the website current with updates on how John’s doing, any needs he or Barbara have, and requests for prayers and support.

We are incredibly grateful for everyone: family, friends, Evergreen Community, Rotarians of Evergreen, for the loving blanket of hope and love you give to John and Barbara daily. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.
