Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place.
John Willson is a healthy, strong, athletic dad and grandpa at 66 yrs old. Over the last couple years he has struggled with his lungs. He had pneumonia 4 times in 2015 and ended up with a fungal pneumonia in April 2016 which landed him in the hospital for 2 weeks.  He was on oxygen 24/7 with no signs of full recovery.  He was referred to the UCSD Lung Transplant Program. He was screened, evaluated, and accepted.
John was admitted at UCSD La Jolla on September 22, 2016. He was blessed with new lungs on October 1, 2016.  He's in the very best place with the very best care. We are so grateful to be with the Lung Transplant team that is assigned to him. They make us feel he is their only patient.
Please continue to keep him in your prayers
Until then, we are taking it a day at a time.
We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement.
Thank you for visiting.
