John was admitted to Highland Park Hospital on March 22 after suffering shortness of breath as a result of a chest cold.  A chest xray showed he had developed pneumonia as well as testing positive for Influenza A.  He was given antibiotics as well as oxygen to assist with breathing.  Unfortunately, he took a turn for the worse the following day and was placed on a ventilator after developing ARDS (acute respiratory distress syndrome).  They moved him to Loyola Hospital in Maywood on Friday, March 24 where they are better equipped to deal with critically ill patients.  As you all know, John has been receiving chemotherapy treatments which more than likely weakened his immune system making it difficult to fight off flu bugs.  His doctors say John's current condition is critical, but stable.
We are continuing to pray for John's full recovery.  Everyone who knows John will attest to his fighting spirit!
