John and Jacob Carroll went snow skiing at Breckenridge, Colorado. John fell yesterdy afternoon and hit a tree. He was taken to St. Anthony's trauma hospital in Lakewood Colorado (suburb of denver). He broke his scapula, bruised his lung and fractured his T12 vertebrae. He has no sensations in his lower extremities . He underwent spinal surgery last night at around 8 pm. It lasted about 4-1/2 hours. Surgeon said the surgery went well but he did sustain some damage to the spinal cord. We aren't sure what his recovery will be at this time. He did NOT sustain any head trauma. We will follow with more information as it become available.
