Early Sunday, November 1st, Dad fell down the basement stairs. Beau did not find him until later that morning. At that time he was alert enough to say that he didn't need an ambulance, however he could not answer some basic questions such as what year it was and who the president is.
Upon arriving at the hospital, we all thought he had a severe concussion, a very bruised shoulder and a lacerated right forearm. It wasn't until he had a head CT that we found out that he had a brain bleed. He was taken into surgery to take out a piece of his skull and to put in a drain to relieve the pressure being put on his brain. In addition, he had broken six ribs, but he did not have a broken arm or dislocated shoulder.
We are told that his recovery will be long and difficult, but anyone who knows our dad knows that he is a very tough and resilient man.
