John Ryan

At the end of October John started to feel like he may have the flu.  Those symptoms lasted longer than expected so he went to the doctor and after various tests over the upcoming weeks they found his red blood cell & iron counts to be extremely low which then triggered more tests.  They did a stomach & colon scope on Nov 18 and that is when they told us they found a mass in his colon.  After a follow up scan they diagnosed him with colon cancer that metastasized to his liver.

We met with the Green Bay Oncology team as well as Froedert doctors.  Collaboratively they determined his treatment plan which will consist of an aggressive chemo regimen.  He started his first treatment Dec 14 and will receive treatment every other week for at least four months.  Hopefully by then the tumors have depleted and/or shrunk enough for them to surgically remove what is remaining.

This will minimally be a six month process but we are ready to tackle this and already making plans for fun things to do when we close this chapter!  John has a 'I will do whatever it takes & full metal jacket' attitude and I will also do whatever it takes to take very good care of him!  We also know that with all the love & support from our most amazing family & friends that we can conquer but yet another bumpy chapter of our lives!

We will keep you updated periodically but anytime you want to say HEY we would love to hear from you via this site, a text or even a visit on the days he is up for it - as long as you are not sick...his immune system will be compromised with this regimen so we just have to be extra careful.
