On Saturday, June 17, 2017 at 4:15 pm John "Rat" was in an ATV accident near Pembine while out for a day long trail ride with friends. The edge of the trail gave way due to recent heavy rainfall. He rolled down the embankment and was pinned against a tree with the ATV on top of him. From quick actions of friends riding with him and other trail riders, they were able to move the ATV and free him. He was transported to Dickinson County Hospital where they ran tests and determined the extent of his injuries were too great for them to treat. He was taken by flight for life to the airport in Green Bay where he was then loaded on an airplane to be transported to University Hospital in Madison. John was immediately taken in for surgery to repair a torn aorta and fix his artificial dislocated hip. He remains in the TLC (trauma and life support center/ICU) and is intubated (breathing tube).
His list of injuries include: *torn aorta-repaired from surgery *dislocated artificial hip-put back in socket during surgery *multiple fractured ribs *fractured wrist *bruised & collapsed lung *spinal fractures *fluid in chest cavity with drain tubes *early stages of pneumonia
Please keep John and his family in your thoughts and prayers as we continue on this difficult journey.
