Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.

On Saturday, March 31, 2018, the family gathered at Kerry's house to celebrate Easter.  John was not feeling well and was sure it was indigestion.  Although he started feeling better in the couple days that followed, he knew something wasn't right and made an appointment with his doctor.  After running some tests, the doctor thought it could possibly be the gall bladder.  John was referred to an Gastroenterologist who ran further tests and scans.  It was determined the he had cirrohis and portal vein thrombosis.  A diagnosis that had us taken aback since he has never been a drinker and he had tested negative for Hepatitis C. John was referred also for a liver biopsy.   The biopsy, blood tests and body scans, confirmed what, in his gut, he already knew.  He was diagnosed with Hepatocellular Carcinoma, or HCC.  HCC is an aggressive liver cancer.   We knew this diagnosis would be followed by several more tests and doctors and treatment options.  We also know that Dad is a strong, stubborn, smart and knowledgeable  man.  We know he is the Captain of this ship and we are all just passengers on this part of his life voyage.   We respect, support, and honor any decisions he chooses in this journey we are embarking upon, together, as a family.
