Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.
On August 24th John had a major heart attack.  He was taken to Buffalo General Hospital.  Two of his arteries were 100% blocked.  They were able to stent the one and the other had already created a replacement path on its own.  His heart was only pushing 10% so they put in a temporary heart pump called an Impella.  Buffalo General was not able to do any further treatment so he was transferred to Strong Memorial in Rochester on August 25th.  They took out the Impalla device on August 26th because it was not helping his progress.  He now is on an ECMO.  This device is now acting as his heart and lungs so they can rest and recover.  He is on a ventilator and was put on strong sedatives and medicine that would paralyze him.  On August 27th they weaned him off both of those medicines.  He is still very ill but making small progress which is what we want to see.
I may be missing a few details but our brains are fried right now.
We will add daily updates.  Please keep thoughts and prayers coming.  They are very much appreciated.
Oh, one more thing...for those who wish to visit, the doctors are requesting:
1.  SHORT VISITS
2.  QUIET VISITS
3.  2 VISITORS AT A TIME
4.  POSITIVE CONVERSATIONS ONLY
5.  NO VISITORS THAT ARE ILL EVEN IF IT IS ALLERGIES DUE TO HIS COMPROMISED IMMUNE SYSTEM
6.  VISITORS SHOULD LET DAD KNOW THEY ARE THERE AND THEN SIT QUIETLY MAYBE HOLDING HIS HAND.
