Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.

As many of you are aware, John has been getting treatment for melanoma since last summer. We had received very positive news, right before Christmas, that he was doing very well.  A week ago however, he experienced a troubling symptom in moving his right hand. That led to a series of scans the next day. They discovered a tumor in his brain, metastatic melanoma.  The tumor location affects some motor skills on the right side of his body. Needless to say, this is not good news.

The treatment plan is to do a very brief series of intense radiation this coming week, along with continued immunotherapy.

He is receiving treatment from the great team in Glenwood Springs at the Calaway-Young Cancer Center, Valley View Hospital.

John is home and doing as well as possible, but this is a radical change. He is as stubbornly independent as always. However, I recognize that we will need help with various chores and daily life stuff, since John is not currently able to do these things. We will be back and forth a lot this week to the Cancer Center. We will try to be specific about ways you might help, if you so desire.  Since this is all so new, we haven't yet entered requests. You can check the icon for "Ways to Help" and look at the scheduled tasks later. Nothing there yet but probably there will be.

This Caring Bridge site is  a way to be specific about possible needs and communicate with you and update you on how he is doing. If you have questions, this is the best way to get information.
We don’t have much on here yet but we will be working on that.  I need to "activate" ways to help soon. Thank you SO much in advance!

Thank you for your abundant love and care and kindness. John and I love you all! Diane
