Welcome to our CaringBridge site. We've created it to keep friends and family updated. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement during this time when it matters most.

For those that do not know exactly what happened to John we will fill in the blanks.

John was running to Fareway to pick up a couple of things.  He was southbound on 9th Street and at the intersection of First Avenue North a vehicle going eastbound ran a stop sign and hit Johns car on the passenger side. John was taken to Trinity Regional in Fort Dodge and assessed with some bleeding on the brain and Beverly was told he would be flown to Des Moines for surgery.  He was taken into surgery immediately upon his arrival and was in surgery for close to 7 hours.  He had a double subdural hematoma.  They basically operated on one side of his brain, then closed it up. Turned him and then operated on his other side and closed it up.  He has been in ICU since coming out of surgery.  It is a slow process and we look each day for small improvements.
The gentleman that hit John was charged with driving while barred, and aggravated misdemeanor.  The state patrol also obtained a search warrant to draw blood for possible driving while under the influence.  He appeared in court on Tuesday for the driving while barred charge. Court ordered he be held on $2,000 bond.  Car he was driving was not his either.
