On Wednesday, July 12, 2017 John was diagnosed with advanced stage small cell lung cancer with a tumor plus lymph node metastases and began palliative care. John had his first round of chemotherapy July 17-19 and second August 7-9. On August 28 CT scan results showed the tumor reduced in size so chemo continued August 28-30. Participation in a research study began to investigate the genes in his tumor to help his oncology medical director, a research physician, assess enrolling him in a clinical trial. Further chemo is scheduled for September 19-21 with a PET scan outcome anticipated early October. We created this Caring Bridge website to keep friends and family updated on his progress.
