John was first diagnosed with lung cancer in July of 2020. After MRI and biopsy's were completed, John was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer with metastatic to the brain (bilateral temporal tumors), adrenal glands, musculature/SQ tissues, and thoracic and lumbar spine. John started palliative chemotherapy in the middle of August for his lung cancer and continued with chemo until mid December. John completed a stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS) also in the beginning of August. A repeat MRI in October showed the bilateral temporal tumors had increased in size and the decision to start 15 palliative radiation to the right and left temporal tumors, Radiation started on November 12 and ended December 3rd with John tolerating the radiation, but definitely took a toll on his body with increase of fatigue, cough and some memory loss. John was still participating in monthly palliative chemotherapy that was causing havoc on John's body. After discussion and many prayers, the decision to stop the palliative chemotherapy was decided after Christmas to give John's body a rest and enjoy his last days here with family and friends.
