Dearest Family and Friends, We have created this site to widen the circle of love and support for John and Gloria. As many of you know, John has recently entered hospice care after a difficult period of chemotherapy and transfusion treatments for MDS (Myelodysplastic Syndrome). In January he was also diagnosed with severe aortic stenosis, which exacerbated symptoms of acute fatigue, anemia and weight loss that he struggled with in 2019 and throughout 2020.
After his most recent hospitalization John and Gloria made the difficult decision for John to stop active treatment and spend his remaining time focusing on quality of life and time with family. He is currently resting comfortably at home and benefiting from excellent care from Gloria and his daughter, Belinda, an RN with a background in home health and hospice care. Kevin and Leslie, who had coordinated his medical care for the past two years, formed a family Covid pod and have continued to provide ongoing household support and companionship. John also has a wonderful team of caregivers from Hospice by the Bay and Home Instead.
Many of John and Gloria's grandchildren are arriving in Petaluma or facetiming with John, and their son Scott and daughter-in-law Kathy have travelled from England to lend their support. We are grateful that Covid vaccines arrived in time to make these visits possible.
The strength of character and integrity that John has shown throughout his life continues to sustain him despite his illness, and his courage is remarkable and true. In the spirit of providing a community of support and connectedness, we invite you to share your memories, blessings, prayers, and photos of John and our family. It's impossible to measure the impact he has had on so many lives, and we hope that however he has touched yours, you will join our family as we uplift John and Gloria in his final phase of life.
