On January 4th John was diagnosed with Squamish cell lung cancer which is inoperable. It is the size of a golf ball located in the middle of his chest wrapped around the pulmonary artery. This consequently is pressing on his bronchial tubes making it difficult to breathe. He also has pneumonia. He is meeting with the best doctors and this week will have a pet-scan of the brain to determine if there is cancer anywhere else in his body. After Wednesday when they have the results his doctors will meet to determine his treatment.
Initially we were told he would only be able to have radiation but after examining him they have found him to be extraordinarily strong for his age and will be able to take the chemo treatments. So at this time he will have radiation everyday for 39 days with intermittent chemo. Not sure how much right now. Radiologist gave him a 60% chance of remission. Haven't heard about the chance with chemo yet. He will have side effects one being tired and most likely ill. We hope that this vehicle will offer you the answers to any questions you may have about him. It will be a difficult journey for both of us. There are so many people that love John and are lifting him in prayer. Needless to say we are overwhelmed by your love and feel the warmth and peace of Christ on this journey. Thank you and I will keep you updated with his prognosis.
